Book Cover Design

Project Description:  You will create a book cover design using your knowledge of inserting type into photoshop. This relates to the chapter 5 information you just finished. Your book cover must include the title and author of the book as well as any design/pictures you think help describe your book. 

Project Directions:

1. First, research book cover design online.  Look at what factual information is included and how the design relates to the book's content.  A good site to start with is: http://bookcoverarchive.com/ 
2. Second, create a word document with 3 book covers that you like.  Copy and paste the book cover picture and write 1-2 sentences about why you like the cover. Print this to turn in at the end of class.
3. Third, decide whether your book will be fiction or non-fiction and what your book will be about.  Come up with a title (school appropriate, of course).
4. Design your cover in photoshop. Your book format and size is up to you. Think about how big your book would be if it was printed. Think carefully about what type you choose and how your type will be arranged on your cover. Also think carefully about your design and how it will relate to the book's content.
5. Save your design in your group folder.  
6. Book cover design will be due at beginning of class on Friday.  We will critique them in class, so make sure you are done by then.
