Ilustrator Badge/Icon Project This project is due on Friday, February 25th - please note - if it is not turned into your group folder by the end of class on Friday, you will not receive any credit. Please use your class time wisely. Project Description: After completing our last project, you should have a good basic understanding of how illustrator works. Now, we are going to begin to learn some different techniques. There are two choices for this project: basic and advanced. If you feel like you are more of an illustrator expert or if illustrator has been easy for you, choose the "advanced level." If you are more of a beginner, choose "basic level." Both levels involve watching a tutorial video, then creating a project of your own. Basic Level: This project involves making a vector badge. A "vector badge" is typically a graphic that is used in web pages and blogs. Step 1: Begin by watching this tutorial video: Vector Badge Step 2: Next, I want you to recreate the vector badge from the video. TIP: I find that it helps to start the video, watch one section, pause, and work on your document, then go back and watch another section. Break it up into small parts. I want your version to look exactly like the video. After recreating the badge, I want you to save it in your group folder as badge. Step 3: Create your own badge using what you learned in the above tutorial. Your badge needs to be similar to the badge from the video, but I want
you to put your own creative edge to it. Do a google search for images of vector badges. Look at some examples before you begin to create your own. Change the shape, color, shadows, etc. Save this file in your group folder as creativebadge. Advanced Level: For this project, you will be creating your own iPhone or smart phone application icon. Step 1: Begin by watching this tutorial video: iPhone Icon Step 2: Next, I want you to create your own iPhone/Smart phone app and design an icon for that app. I want you to create the icon and then include some text in your document describing what kind of application this icon would represent. Do a google search for iPhone icons to get some ideas. Save the file in your group folder as icon. NOTE: If you need extra credit for this quarter, you may do both projects and I will apply the extra credit to your grade. The extra project can be turned in any time before the end of the quarter, which is March 11th. | Basic Level Example ![]() Advanced Level Example ![]() |
